Davidís Book Club: Novelist, Olivia Glazebrook Talks about and signs her New Novel, Never Mind Miss Fox

Wednesday 24 September 2014
7:30 pm

‘The dynamics of the small family (are) mined for every gem. The portrayal of Eliza is quite brilliant . . . This is a warm and fascinating portrayal of a modern family at a moment of crisis’

Daily Express

Never Mind Miss Fox is a subtle, unforgettable novel about the casual cruelties we inflict upon each other and the havoc that can be wreaked by those who refuse to grow up.

Eliot Fox is ‘a caution’, ‘really cool’, ‘always cool’, ‘wicked little Eliot’, ‘mysterious’, ‘a nice girl’. Everywhere she goes, Eliot seems to engender a strong response from both men and women. So it is when Eliot starts to teach piano to the young daughter of an old family friend. She and Eliza form a bond straight away. Eliza’s father Clive, however, is less delighted to be reunited with Eliot. He and Eliza’s mother, Martha, – university sweethearts – are starting to find their marriage showing the signs of wear and age. Clive decides that in order to safeguard a future for his marriage and family, he must first shut out all shadows from the past. And that includes Eliot Fox.

Olivia Glazebrook was born in Dorset in 1976. She is a screenwriter, journalist, book and film reviewer, and Never Mind Miss Fox is her second novel. Her first, The Trouble With Alice, was published by Short Books in 2010.

David’s Bookshop is located on Eastcheap in Letchworth (SG6 3DE) . Entrance is by buying the new paperback from David’s for £7.99 in advance. This will reserve a place and allows attendees to read the book prior the event so that it can be discussed on the evening.
