Renowned Author and Comic Actor, Emma Kennedy Talks about and Signs her Hilarious New Book, I Left My Tent in San Francisco

Tuesday 07 June 2011
7:30 pm

It’s 1989, and Emma and her best friend Dee head to the USA to make their fortune. But completely inept and virtually unemployable, they discover that they can’t even get a job in McDonald’s.

Forced to travel from California to New York with only pennies in their pockets, they bounce from scrape to scrape, surviving on their wits and the kindness of strangers. Bad luck and misfortune throw everything their way – snakes, earthquakes, black magic and incontinent dogs. They even get kidnapped by a sex-crazed midget in a Ferrari.

About the Author: A graduate of Hitchin Girls’ School, Emma Kennedy is an actress and writer who has appeared in many award-winning comedy shows including Goodness Gracious Me and The Smoking Room. In 2003 she won the Comedy Lounge Best Actress Award for her role in Bill Shakespeare’s Italian Job and in 2005 won the British Television Advertising Craft Award for Best Actress. She has been writing for TV and radio for over a decade and has won Sony Awards for the Sunday Format and The Now Show. Her first book was How to Bring Up Your Parents and she is also the author of the very popular children's Wilma Tenderfoot series and the funny travel book, The Tent, The Bucket and Me.  She recently appeared on Radio 4’s Loose Ends.

David’s Bookshop is located on Eastcheap in Letchworth (SG6 3DE) Entry is free, but please call the bookshop on 01462 684631 to reserve a space.  For more information or to arrange an interview with Emma Kennedy, please contact Sally Hewitt  on 01462 768 234 saras.perkins@virgin.net or Paul Wallace on 01462 684631 paul@davids-bookshops.co.uk.
