Mega Mash Up: Draw Your Own Adventure for 6-11 Year Olds with Authors, Nikalas Catlow and Tim Wesson

Saturday 21 April 2012
3:00 pm

Is it a Novel?  Is it a Doodle book?  It’s Both!

Mega Mash-Up, for 6 – 11 year-olds. are novels and doodle-books created by Nikalas Catlow and Tim Wesson. Readers are encouraged to complete the pictures, make up new characters and add speech to speech-bubbles.

Nikalas Catlow and Tim Wesson created a completely unique idea that merged children’s creativity with their own. These books are both novels for young children and “doodle books”, and the child is invited to illustrate or add to the story on every page.   These books offer perfect – and innovative – way to engage young and reluctant readers (and, given the subject-matter, particularly boy readers) with a different kind of reading experience. The first four titles in the series are:

Romans v Dinosaurs on Mars: The Romans and Dinosaurs live together in a huge glass dome called Romasauria. They race their rocket chariot and feast on Moon-Cow until their very existence is threatened by a giant asteroid.

Robots v Gorillas in the Desert: Deep in the desert, Gorillas trade the oil under their city for bananas grown by hi-tech robots. But after Gadget the Great accidentally sends 10,000 volts of electricity up King Well-Hairy’s nose, the robots and the gorillas decide to sort things out once and for all: whoever wins will have all the oil and all the bananas.

Aliens v Mad Scientists Under the Ocean: The Earth is in peril. Aliens are trying to stop it spinning so everyone will fall off and they can take over. Mwa ha ha ha! But fear not! The Mad Scientists are building an underwater machine to save the day. If only the Aliens would stop zapping them with their Frazzelizers…

Pirates v Ancient Egyptians in a Haunted Museum: What happens when some Ancient Egyptians, together with their spooky Mummies, take on a crew of bloodthirsty Pirates, those terrors of the seven seas, in a Haunted Museum! Chaos amongst the exhibits, that’s what!

This event will take place at the Letchworth Arts Centre.  Tickets are £2, and there will be special offers on the day.  Please call the bookshop on 01462 684631 or book here to reserve a space.
