John Connolly, Best Selling Crime Writer Talks about and Signs his New Book, A Time of Torment

Thursday 14 April 2016
8 pm

As always, Connolly’s research into the background of his novels is superb – this time taking him into the world of folklore and myth – giving him material to fuel his superb imagination and storytelling ability.

Jerome Burnel was once a hero. He intervened to prevent multiple killings and in doing so damned himself. His life was torn apart. As a consequence of that heroism, he was targeted, set-up and sent to jail. On his release, he calls on private detective Charlie Parker. He speaks of a girl he knows was marked for death, but was saved; of the ones who have tormented him, and of an entity that hides in a ruined stockade. He becomes the catalyst that will ignite a viciously combustible community – one that has grown around the cult of the Dead King.  Parker is a hunter and he is not like other men. He died, and was reborn. He is ready to wage war on behalf of injustice. The Cut and its inhabitants – so long laws unto themselves – must finally face an opponent more terrible then they are.

JOHN CONNOLLY was born in Dublin in 1968.  His debut novel, Every Dead Thing, immediately launched him into the front rank of mystery thriller writers, and each of his subsequent novels have been Sunday Times bestsellers.   His crime anthology, Books to Die For, edited with Declan Burke was the winner of the 2013 Anthony, Agatha and the Macavity Awards for Best Non-fiction.   He was the first non-American writer to win the US Shamus award, and the firs Irish writer to be awarded the Edgar by the Mystery Writers of America.

Tickets are £4 and can be deducted from the cost of the hardback (£14.99) if purchased on the evening.
