Glyn Maxwell : Drinks With Dead Poets at The Broadway Theatre

Thursday 29 September 2016
7 pm

Part comic novel, part dream-memoir, part criticism, and part autobiography, the mysteries of Drinks With Dead Poets are not explained. Drinks With Dead Poets is unlike anything you have ever read before.

Glyn Maxwell’s On Poetry was published by Oberon in 2012. The Spectator called it a ‘modern classic’; The Guardian’s Adam Newey described it as ‘the best book about poetry I’ve ever read.’ Drinks With Dead Poets, is both an expansion of On Poetry and a novel itself.

Glyn Maxwell is a poet, playwright, novelist, librettist and critic and has long been regarded as one of Britain’s major poets. Born in Welwyn Garden City and now lives in the Islington. His previous books include Pluto, Hide Now, The Sugar Mile, The Nerve, and his recent selection One Thousand Nights and Counting. Several of his plays have been staged in the UK and USA, his opera libretti include The Lion's Face, The Firework Maker's Daughter, Seven Angels and Nothing.

The Broadway Theatre is located on Eastcheap in Letchworth (SG6 3DD). The ticket price is £4 or £12.99 including the book, available from David's Bookshop, Eastcheap, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 3DE, call 01462 475900 or email staff@davids-bookshops.co.uk
