Davidís Bookshop Hosts a Crime Panel with Three Eminent Crime Fiction Writers, Ann Cleeves, Sharon Bolton and Elly Griffiths In Conversation with Crime Fiction Critic Jake Kerridge

Thursday 18 May 2017
7:30 pm

Crime writing has grown so prodigiously popular and as a result, current output is now immense.  Most crime fiction whether on the page or on the screen centres on murder and has a strong narrative. This is nothing new. Crime in one shape or another is one of the basic plot devices of Western literature. Crime fiction critic Jake Kerridge will be talking with three outstanding craftswomen in the field about tricks of the trade and about why there has always been such a demand for this genre.

Ann Cleeves: With over 1.5 million copies sold worldwide, Ann Cleeves is one of Britain’s most successful crime fiction novelists. Her bestselling books are loved in print and on screen: both the Vera Stanhope and Shetland series are now major TV adaptations on ITV and BBC One respectively.

Elly Griffiths’ bestselling Dr Ruth Galloway novels, featuring a forensic archaeologist, are set in Norfolk, while her new series of Stephens and Mephisto novels are based in 1950s Brighton. She lives near Brighton with her husband, an archaeologist, and their two children.

Sharon Bolton is the critically acclaimed author of some of the most bone-chilling crime books ever written. She has been shortlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger for Crime Novel of the Year and the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. In 2014 she won the CWA Dagger in the Library for her whole body of work. Sharon lives near Oxford with her husband and young son.

Jake Kerridge (Moderator) is a journalist, reviewer and interviewer who has been the crime fiction critic of the Daily Telegraph since 2005.

Tickets cost will £6 and will include discounts of the crime authors’ books on the evening. Tickets are available by calling in or by ringing the shop on 01462684631.
