Bestselling Author/Illustrator of the How to Train Your Dragon Series, Cressida Cowell will Discuss her New Childrenís Novel, The Wizards of Once at St Francis College

Wednesday 20 September 2017
4:30

THE WIZARDS OF ONCE publishes on Tuesday 19th September, launching a brand new series by Cressida Cowell, author-illustrator of the 8-million-copy-selling How to Train Your Dragon series, which has inspired a generation of readers as well as a DreamWorks’ movie and TV franchise of the same name.

In the first book of this new series, Cressida has created a brand new ‘wildwood’ world, set in a time of Magic and dark forests. In this world, there are Wizards, who are Magic.  And Warriors, who are not.  Warriors had driven Witches to extinction using Iron swords. And now they want to use Iron to wipe out Wizards too, because Wizards are Magic and all Magic is bad, surely? The Wizards of Once is a fantasy, magical adventure that has already been signed up by animation studio DreamWorks. Cressida will talk about her inspiration, give top tips on becoming an author or illustrator, as well as sharing behind-the-scenes details about how the Dragon books became films. Unmissable!

Cressida Cowell is the author and the illustrator of the bestselling How to Train Your Dragon book series, and the author of the Emily Brown picture books, illustrated by Neal Layton. How to Train Your Dragon has sold over 8 million books worldwide in 38 languages. It is also an award-winning DreamWorks film franchise, and a TV series shown on Netflix and CBBC. Cressida is an ambassador for the National Literacy Trust and The Reading Agency and a founder patron of the Children's Media Foundation.

St Francis’ College is located in Letchworth (SG6 3PJ). Tickets are £12.99 and include a copy of the hardback book or £15 for a child and parent, which also includes the hardback book. To book tickets, please ring David’s Bookshop on 01462 684631 or call in to the shop. Tickets won't be available for sale until the 19th of June.
