Bestselling Author of The Keeper of Lost Things, Ruth Hogan will Discuss and Sign her Latest Novel, The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes

Monday 18 June 2018
7:30 pm

Last year was an extraordinary one for Ruth Hogan – her debut, The Keeper of Lost Things, published in January 2017 and became a word-of-mouth hit, a Nielsen Silver Bestseller and the best-selling ebook across the whole of 2017.

The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes is another irresistible novel of unexpected friendships, second chances and dark secrets. Masha was once a spirited, independent woman with a rebellious streak. Then twelve years ago a tragic event changed her life forever. Unable to let go of her grief, she finds solace in the silent company of the souls of her local Victorian cemetery and at the town's lido, where she seeks refuge underwater – safe from the noise and the pain. But a chance encounter with two extraordinary women - the fabulous and wise Kitty Muriel, a seventy-something-roller-discofanatic, and the mysterious Sally Red Shoes, a bag lady with a prodigious voice – opens up a new world of possibilities, and the chance to start living again.

Ruth Hogan: In her early thirties, Ruth had a car accident, which left her unable to work
full-time, and she started writing seriously. In 2012, Ruth was
diagnosed with cancer, which she describes as ‘bloody inconvenient but
precipitated an exciting hair journey from bald to a peroxide blonde Annie Lennox
crop.’ Unable to sleep due to the chemo, she spent the nights writing. In The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes she draws from her own experiences of suffering from cancer, as well as a love of Victorian cemeteries, and the recognition that the relationships you make give life meaning.

Tickets are £6, which are deductible from the cost of the hardback book (£14.99) if purchased on the evening. To book tickets, please ring the shop on 01462 684631 or call in to the shop.
