Melanie has been at David's since 1995 and knows all there is to know about its workings. The great range of individual cards, paper, notebooks and calendars is down to her!

Formerly a children’s librarian, Susan buys nearly all the books in our scrumptious children’s department. Ask her for a recommendation – she always has a new book on the go! Susan also regularly organises bookfairs in local schools. Please enquire if you would like to know more.

Secondhand & Antiquarian book orders

Nicky catalogues and despatches secondhand and antiquarian books, mostly online. If you see a book you like on our secondhand list, she's the one to ask.

A recent History graduate (not a graduate of recent history), Richard reads widely, and can be especially helpful if you're looking for a book on Renaissance puppetry, or the humour of World War I.

Coffee Shop

Cathy helps to run the coffee shop and is famous for her celebrations of Red Nose Day, Easter, Christmas, Valentines Day, Mothers Day, and every other day on which silly headgear may be worn. She also runs the LALG Games Club.

Rachel Bagenal

Bookshop Assistant

Rachel has been on the staff since the mid 90s and regularly helps out. She is an expert on all things handicraft (see her website In Stitches) and is a fluent German speaker.

Jane Bird

Accounts Administrator / Office Manager

Jane is our super-efficient wizardess of all things financial. All queries of a financial nature (invoices, payments, utilities etc) are dealt with cheerfully but with exactitude.

Where is David's Bookshop?

David's Bookshops are located in Eastcheap, Letchworth Garden City, only a few minutes’ walk from the railway station in the heart of the Town Centre. There is ample parking nearby.
