Record Store Day at David's Music
Record Store Day at David's Music!
- Sat Apr 13, 2019 - 8am
- David's Music
Hooray, it's indie Christmas again!
We'll be operating as usual this year, but for anyone who is new to proceedings:
We open at 8am (there will probably be a queue so be aware if there are releases you can't live without!) but the staff will be in around 7am to serve free tea & coffee to the patiently waiting queue! The lovely peeps next door in Simmons will be opening at 6am for tea, coffee, breakfasts & toilet facilities too so show them some love!
When we open at 8am we'll serve everyone in order at the counter and work our way through as quickly as we can. As always (and in accordance with the rules) it's first come, first served and 1 of each per person (but you can buy as many of the releases as you like!) All the while we'll have DJs spinning tunes to keep us entertained.
Here is a list of everything we'll be stocking - please note that everything is subject to change right up until the day!
When we open at 8am we'll have 2 DJs providing the soundtrack to our morning.
DJ Malc on the wheels of steel playing you his favourite soul and funk.
Rob (H-town Rags) follows on with a selection of his favourite tunes.
In the afternoon, when the queue has all been served we'll have some awesome live music!
1.30 Smith and Brewer
2.15 Aidan Connell
3.00 Dan Bond
3.45 John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett
Holy Moly, that line-up though. We're super excited!
Smith and Brewer - Ben Smith and Jimmy Brewer are a close harmony singing, guitar playing duo from the U.K. They have played together all over the country, recently supporting 10cc & Ralph McTell on their 2018 tour. They also contributed backing vocals to Ralph McTell’s New Album, which was produced by Tony Visconti.
Aidan Connell - London based blues rock guitarist: “Connell’s mastery of nuances make him a very impressive blues-rocker.'' The Blues Magazine. His energy, his sense of history and his skill to forge rock traditions anew have garnered accolades from the likes of Gary Clark Jr – another musical magpie – who invited Aidan to support him on several shows. Seasick Steve, who described him as “the only rock 'n' roller in town” and Jeff Beck who enthused that he was a “natural successor to the British blues-rock crown.” High praise from kindred spirits, who have never chosen the well-travelled path. With his debut album GRIO, Connell has set off on a similarly exciting, idiosyncratic musical journey.
Dan Bond - Herts/Beds based singer/songwriter influenced by pop and country music. Dan has toured extensively around the country, sharing the stage with groups such as MK1 and Lucy Spraggan, whom he supported at sold-out venues on her post X-factor tour.
John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett - What is there to say? A pair of absolute legends are coming to play at David's! Their debut album originally came out in 1977 - this year for Record Store Day the duo have re-recorded the entire album direct to disc and are releasing BOTH versions in a 2LP set, on blue and green vinyl respectively. Check the video of them in the studio >> HERE
