Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself. This is the famous first sentence of the book, in which Woolf details a day in the life of Mrs. Dalloway in post-World War I England. Constructed through two short stories Woolf had previously written, the story of the novel is Clarissa Dalloway's preparations for a party she is to give that night where she will confront her past.
Adeline Virginia Stephen, better known as Virginia Woolf, was a British writer, author of novels, short stories, plays and other literary works. She is one of the most outstanding figures of the modernism of the 20th century and of the international feminism.
